Application of EDTA in the Medical Field
EDTA is a widely used anticoagulant in clinical routine blood tests. It has minimal impact on blood cell agglutination and cell morphology, and can inhibit platelet aggregation.
EDTA anticoagulant blood collection tubes are widely applied in clinical hematology examinations and are compatible with various hematology analyzers. They do not cause cell shrinkage or swelling, ensuring that blood cell characteristics such as morphology and size remain close to the physiological state during testing. This guarantees the accuracy of white blood cell, red blood cell, and platelet counts and differential results.
In addition, EDTA offers excellent stability. Blood samples anticoagulated with EDTA can maintain stable composition and properties for a certain period, which means a flexible testing time and location.
It mainly works by binding with calcium ions in the blood to form stable chelates, thereby preventing blood coagulation. EDTA has minimal impact on the morphology of red blood cells and white blood cells, making it suitable for routine hematological tests, especially complete blood count (CBC).
As an internationally recognized ideal anticoagulant, EDTA has virtually no effect on blood cell counts. Routine blood test, as one of the most important and widely used clinical examinations, ensures accurate and reliable test results.
Tenghu Biol specializes in the production of blood collection tube reagents. We supply high-quality blood collection tube reagents including EDTA K2, EDTA K3, and EDTA Na2, together with supporting auxiliary reagents such as inner wall anti-adhesive agent, anti-micro-coagulant, stabilizer, and moisturizer. These products can effectively reduce blood adhesion on the tube wall, fibrin formation, and bacterial growth. They also enhance anticoagulant effect, maintain stable platelet activity, extend sample storage time, and prevent reagents clogging in spray nozzles.
Tenghu Biol offer professional instructions and guidance. Based on customers’ testing requirements, we provide rational advice on the selection of anticoagulant types as well as their dissolution and spraying dosages, so as to ensure the scientific reliability of medical diagnosis.
