1. Anticoagulant Principle
Potassium Oxalate: It rapidly chelates calcium ions in plasma to form insoluble calcium oxalate precipitate, blocks the coagulation cascade reaction, and achieves rapid primary anticoagulation.
The coagulation process (intrinsic and extrinsic pathways) requires the participation of Ca²⁺ (Factor IV). Removal of Ca²⁺ → Prothrombin cannot be activated into thrombin → Fibrinogen cannot be converted into fibrin → Blood is prevented from coagulation.
Sodium Fluoride: After blood collection, red blood cells and white blood cells continuously metabolize and consume glucose through glycolysis. Sodium fluoride can specifically inhibit enolase, the key enzyme of glycolysis, block the catabolism of glucose in red blood cells, stably maintain blood glucose concentration for a long time, and prevent low biased test results.
